Back to School Tech Prep and Screen Time Tips

As we gear up for another school year, it’s essential to recognize that technology and education go hand in hand. With this in mind, let’s make sure our devices are ready to roll! Here are a few quick tips to ensure that laptops and tablets are in tip-top shape before hitting the books:

Check Device Health: Make sure everything is functioning well. Update all necessary software to keep your devices secure and efficient.

Keep it Clean: A quick wipe-down can work wonders. Dust and grime can affect performance.

Once the tech is sorted, let’s talk about screen time. It’s easy to get lost in those digital worlds, but moderation is key! Here are some handy guidelines to protect your eyes and promote a healthy balance:

Limit Near-Screen Time: Try not to sit closer than 30 cm from the screen. This helps reduce eye strain.

20/20/20 Rule: For every 20 minutes of screen time, look at something 20 feet (ca. 6 metres) away for at least 20 seconds. Your eyes will thank you!

Get Outside: Don’t forget to enjoy the great outdoors! Walking to school or taking time during recess and lunch breaks to be active can work wonders for both your physical and mental health.

So, as you prepare for the school year, remember that a little tech TLC and some mindful screen habits can go a long way. Here’s to a fantastic and productive school year ahead.
